What it tastes like:

If you ask the local people, many people will recommend this shop. It’s a very popular shop, so you most times you will see a long line. We went there on a Saturday around 7:45 PM. The original shop used to be small, but this place has done well with their business enough to buy another space for usage. We spent 42 minutes from the time when got in line until the time our food arrived.

When we sat down, the waitress came over to ask if we wanted the special appetizer we have to order through her. For the drinks, you must go to the front of the shop to pick what you want. Our table was shared with two our strangers because they needed to seat many people. The beef was very tender and pretty delicious. The tendon with noodles has a very special flavor, it soaks up the flavor from the soup. (From an American perspective, I did not like this dish.) The soup was not very greasy and a little bit sweet. The restaurant allows you to refill your soup once for free.

If you like a little spice in your soup, the tables have some spices in cups to add by yourself. (Local Taiwanese perspective) I like the flavor of these spices, but it can be very hot (spicy), so be careful.

Convenience(餐廳交通方面): 2顆星  ★★☆☆☆

Because the restaurant is between two MRT stations, it can take some time to walk there. We used a scooter to get there, so it did not take us as long.

Because the shop has become famous, they have raised their prices a bit. Generally, you can buy beef noodles for around 100 NTD.

Taste(味道): 5顆星 ★★★★★

(Taiwanese) I have tried other shops tendon noodles and this one had the most flavor.

(American) I did not like the flavor of the tendon. It was bland and chewy.

You sit very close together with lots of other customers in the shop. It feels a bit cramped, and you can hear a lot of other people’s conversations easily.

Cleanliness(清潔度): 3顆星 ★★★☆☆

After people leave, they clean the tables and sit another customer almost immediately. The floor was a bit greasy.

For a classic Taipei meal, you need to try beef noodles. I brought Red Dragon to another beef noodles shop before in Sun Moon Lake, and he seemed to like it. So, I decided that he must try this shop. When we had our meal in the shop, Red Dragon was the only foreigner there. On this shop’s Facebook, they post information in Japanese and Korean, but no English. So, I hope more English travelers will try this shop. If you try this shop, leave a comment below and let us know about your experience.

So, it probably was worth the wait. The beef noodles were delicious, but a bit expensive. We will have to try more places to compare! See you next time!
